Doing the talking circuit

Shaun was on radio this morning, spruiking Sunday night’s episode of Your Gen. I caught his quick appearance on Classic Rock 91.5, where he talked about the chair he used to sit in (was the Vega studio), confirmed the guest list and joked that he was expected to get similar ratings to Masterchef.

When discussing the end-game, it seems the Maze will be a one-week event, but be prepared for more elaborate ones to come.

Being Classic Rock, the presenter asked what his favourite classic rock artist – to which he dryly replied: Sade.

YourGen returns on Sunday

Yes, now that the cooking show has finished, we can look forward to Shaun on a Sunday night again.

From the ads, it looks like Jimeoin and Ricki-Lee are amongst the guests this week. [And William McInnes too – thanks Julie!]

So, 7:30, Channel 10, Sunday. Got it? 🙂

TAYG on a plane – and back in 2 weeks

According to the ads and forums, Talkin’ ’bout Your Generation is returning on August 1st, in the same Sunday night slot – but you can expect a twist on some of the games! Watch the ad here.

In other news, if you fly with Qantas, you may also be aware they are showing cut down episodes of TAYG on their domestic flights. That should go someway to making up for all the trouble it takes to actually board the plane!

Shaun, trophy redistributor

In case you haven’t frequented the official site/Facebook of Talkin’ Bout Your Gen (Tbyg), you wouldn’t know that the call has been put out for unwanted trophies!

In the 1st season, Shaun seemed to give out his own personal trophies as a prize to the team who won that week – including one of his Logies for The Micallef P(r)ogram(me)!? He must of run out by Season 2, as a more standard trophy was awarded to the best generation.

Now it seems that old awards, medals, certificates from viewers will be the prize in Season 3 – sounds like an idea Shaun would have! Got one you want to be rid of? Read the full info.

Welcher & Welcher now available on DVD!

It has been eight years coming, but the very clever sitcom written and staring Shaun, Welcher & Welcher, is now available for you to watch over and over in the private space that is your own home.

The only special feature is outtakes, but the series itself is worth it for any Shaun fan.

So get to your local store (or online*), exchange your cash for a plastic disc in a plastic box, put the disc in the thing that looks like a cup tray and prepare to laugh and laugh. And cry. Then laugh again.

Shaun-friend-a-palooza on The Librarians

Filming is underway on the third season of The Librarians, which has been a stand-out sitcom for the Australian ABC.

The show is full of Micallef-alumni/friends: the show is written by and stars Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope, and also stars Roz Hammond. And Tony Martin is set to direct a few episodes this season. If only Shaun had a small role, it would definitely be describable as a ‘palooza’!

Stay tuned for it later this year.

Shaun’s Logie speech

Obviously, Shaun won a silver Logie this year for most popular presenter – and he very much deserved it! Sure, it wasn’t the Gold, but when the winner is a soapie star, what chance does real talent have?

I believe this is his first individual Logie; previous wins were for the legendary Micallef Prog(r)am(me).

If you haven’t seen his speech, you should be ashamed. Then you should watch it on YouTube (or is it Sir Laurence Olivier’s speech?!) 🙂

Welcher & Welcher coming to DVD!

That hilarious sitcom written by and starring Shaun is coming to DVD! Also starring Robyn Butler and Francis Greenslade, the show was set in a law firm and followed the misadventures of Quentin Welcher.

Madman is listing the release date as June 16th with commentary by Shaun to be confirmed, so here’s hoping!

You can still find the original website for the show here.

Shaun to play Lee Freedman in movie

Filming for The Cup, the story of Damien Oliver’s Melbourne Cup triumph days after his brother died in a fall, began last Monday according to the official site.

Shaun has been cast as Lee Freedman, a well known racehorse trainer, who is a long time supporter of Oliver’s.

The Cup is based on the book by Eric O’Keefe and is expected to be wrapped up by Christmas, and launched next Easter. [Ref]
